Associate Director, Student Financial Assistance Position 38997
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have recent financial aid experience, strong management, and customer service skills, thorough knowledge of Satisfactory Academic Progress and Professional Judgment practices, and knowledge of federal, state, and institutional compliance, rules, and regulations in regard to the administration of student financial aid.
Job Description: Serves as a member of the management team and oversees overall customer service functions to include front desk, telephones, e-mails, website, and outreach efforts and has responsibility for the oversight and supervision of staff in the areas of Satisfactory Academic Progress and Professional Judgment.
This position/classification may be moved at management’s discretion within theSDES division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Development and Enrollment Services or his/her designee.
Coordinator for University Assessment for the Office of Student Financial Assistance. Supervises the process and the team members involved in the process.
Supervises and manages communications, including consumer information materials to ensure consistency, quality, and comprehensiveness.
Oversee the release and distribution of written, published, and electronically generated information to students.
Participates in the ongoing development and maintenance of the departmental policy and procedure manual.
Has oversight of SFA’s financial literacy initiatives.
Serves as the primary contact person for student complaints from the President’s Office and Ombudsman Office.
Responsible for Special Program oversight, to include Gainful Employment, Unusual Enrollment History, Transient Enrollment, FLVC/Florida Shines, as well as, Study Abroad and Exchange Programs.
Responsible for the office training programs and coordination of professional development opportunities for staff and managers.
Participates in outreach activities and presentation of financial aid information to groups of students, parents, high school counselors, and/or the general public in workshop or training sessions.
Maintains a thorough working knowledge of University, Federal, and State regulations and policies pertaining to student assistance programs to be able to analyze and react as needed to update policy changes.
Advises and counsels students and parents regarding the financial aid process.
Analyzes and evaluates students’ financial needs.
Interprets to students the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs.
Advises on availability and sources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, Campus-based aid, Stafford loan, scholarships, and other programs.
Collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop strategies and initiatives designed to enhance students educational experience, improve persistence, retention, and graduation rates.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Occasional evenings and weekends required.
