Position: Ave Maria University is seeking applications for an experienced customer service professional to join our Enrollment Services team as Financial Aid Counselor.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive financial aid experience.
• Experience with PowerFAIDS (or other financial aid software), Power Campus/Banner (or other SIS software).
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Works well in a team environment; positive attitude a must.
• Creative problem-solver with attention to detail.
• Desire to help and teach others.
• Customer service approach to dealing with students, parents and fellow staff.
• Professional demeanor and ability to interact with students and internal staff.
Job Summary and Responsibilities:
• Primary function is to facilitate the processing and disbursement of federal Title IV aid and institutional scholarships.
• Responsible for awarding and reporting of State of Florida programs.
• Provide front line financial aid counseling to prospective and current students and their families regarding financial aid eligibility.
• Present financial aid information at on-campus events.
• Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) processing.
• Support and assist incoming students and parents throughout the financial aid application process.
• Provide customer service via e-mail, phone and in person to prospective and current students.
• Act as a liaison between incoming student/parent and departments of Admissions, Student Support Services, Registrars, Bursars and Athletics, among others.
• Track all documents relative to federal, state and institutional financial aid requirements.
• Communicate timelines to students and parents to ensure student billing accounts are satisfied in a timely manner.
• Update database/tracking systems to reflect student’s status in the enrollment process.
• Send correspondence regarding student aid packages and scholarships.
• Assist in the managing of grant and scholarship programs.
• May have to supervise student workers.
