ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Office of Financial Aid is responsible for coordinating and administering all student financial assistance awarded to USF students, in compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional regulations and guidelines. The office is the main point of contact for all financial aid program information for current and prospective students and parents. The office is responsible  for: coordinating and managing the awarding and disbursement of over $480 million in financial aid funds on an annual basis; interpreting changes to federal, state, and institutional regulations and translating the effect/impact to students  and parents in a manner they can understand, particularly first generation students; providing an array of financial aid support options for  students and their families; and providing oversight to monitor the entire process to ensure institutional compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. The Office of Financial Aid also provides financial education programs to the undergraduate student population. The financial education program supports the University's Strategic Plan by successfully implementing one of the strategic goals--by supporting activities that result in retention and graduation at higher than externally predicted rates, employment or admission to graduate or professional schools at specified rates, lower-than-average student loan debt loads, and higher-than-average satisfaction when compared to peer institutions. **This position is required to access information and reports in the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and must not be in default on Title IV student loans.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for providing financial education outreach to undergraduate students and training and evaluating peer student educators. This position requires extensive contact with undergraduate students through training programs, in-person presentations, and one on-one financial education programs. This position works on behalf of undergraduate students while fulfilling the goals of the Office of Financial Aid and USF.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, coordinate, and conduct financial education programs to help undergraduate students make informed decisions in regards to student loans and personal money management; includes oversight of program communications and social media platforms.

Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate peer financial educators on a semesterly/annual basis.

Prepare evaluation forms and reports for peer financial education initiatives, and maintain accurate records. Determine appropriate assessments and interventions necessary to assist undergraduate students. Analyze and interpret peer to peer financial education program assessment results and incorporate the results in improving the program.

Provide other counseling and administrative support as required to accomplish the mission and goals of OFA.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Administration, or appropriate field with a minimum of one year of experience in advising, financial aid administration or related academic functions within higher education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree with one year Title IV/Financial Aid experience and/or experience in credit counseling, debt management, or financial planning; one year of supervisory
experience.
