Preferences:The selected candidate for this position will have extensive knowledge of current financial aid rules and regulations, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational skills. The preferred candidate will have recent experience working in an automated financial aid office, recent PeopleSoft experience, and experience working in an institution with extensive student contact.
Job DescriptionResponsible for coordination and supervision of Satisfactory Academic Progress and Professional Judgment. Coordinates the Academic Appeal processes and assists in Forced Independence application processes.
Responsible for chairing the SAP Committee. Also responsible for evaluating Satisfactory Academic Process Appeals, serving on the SAP committee. Reviews appeal applications, makes appropriate award adjustments, and notifies the student of the results.
Assists in the Professional Judgment and Dependency Override processes.
Participates as a member of the Fee Appeals committee.
Assists in presentation of financial aid information to groups of students, parents, high school counselors, and/or the general public in workshop or training sessions.
Advises and counsels students and parents regarding the financial aid process. Analyzes and evaluates students' financial needs. Advises on availability and sources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, Campus-based aid, Stafford loan, scholarships, and other programs. Interprets to students the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs. Counseling occurs through personal interviews, by telephone, and email communications.
Attends professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to assure adequate professional development and keep abreast of current rules and regulations.
Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Preferences: The preferred candidate will have recent financial aid experience and PeopleSoft experience.
