The University of Miami has an Sr. Application System Analyst (Financial Aid) position currently available.

General Description (Purpose and Function):

The Application System Analyst is responsible for managing the systems analysis and requirements analysis for Campus Solution as well as development of business cases, facilitation of analysis workshops, the selection of the most effective solution, configuration of the system, and the definition and management of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure enterprise operational and IT deliverables meet the requirements of the enterprise. The Application System Analyst assists the IT staff in understanding the enterprise’s operational needs for both automated and manual solutions to business systems and procedures. In addition, this position sets standards for use of software and serves as the liaison between business analyst and developers when technical issues need escalation

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):
• Conducts internal and external research to gather data and accomplish objectives/guidelines for Campus Solution
• Participates in team and department design, incident and change initiatives as directed
• Maintains working knowledge of current industry information, vendor direction, new products and technical architectures/approaches
• Monitors the service delivery of information systems and recommends needed changes or improvements
• Partners with business analysts to gather all requirements to formulate specifications and translating those into technical specifications for developers.
• Documents workflows and results of system analysis.
• Assists the technical team in translating business requirements into application functionality.
• Configures the system or oversee others configuring the system to meet the business requirements of the enterprise.
• Leads, performs and consults on the development and execution of testing related activities, including but not limited to risk analysis, test plans, result analysis, coordination of testing activities, diagnosis of application or process deficiencies.
• Analyzes and documents problems with vendor-supplied software and generates documentation for submission of software problems to vendor
• Understands the long-term business objectives and suggesting strategies to meet those objectives; introduces innovation to business processes through technology if appropriate.
• Works with Developers as necessary.
• Performs analysis and redesigns workflow if appropriate.
• Participates as needed in training sessions to implement new or improved systems and procedures.
• Conducts meetings on all levels of management for purposes of presentations, reviews, approvals of recommendations, etc.
• Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, and make recommendations in these areas.
• Participates in quarterly bundle release.
• Supervises Systems Analysts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Structures the priorities of the system area.
• Monitors and analyzes information system performance.
• Analyzes and resolves problems quickly and efficiently.
• Supports applications and operations as defined by the project.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of system capacity to determine feasibility.
• Knowledge of office automation, information technology techniques and practices, forms and records management.
• Analytical and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Equation Engine
• Knowledge of XML Publisher, Query Management Tools and exposure with SQL and Application Designer
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft Implementation Methodologies and PeopleSoft System Support Technology
• Ability to express system concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
• Bachelors of Science or Bachelors of Arts.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
• Five (5) years of University experience.
