Position Details
The Office of Financial Aid has a position available for an Associate Director who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to supervise financial aid counseling staff, train new staff and provide support to the Director. This position is also responsible for counseling graduate students on their aid options. Attention to providing a positive customer experience and quality assurance in aid processing is necessary. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.

Responsibilities include:
1. Manage daily operations of the financial aid office in the absence of the Director and during the implementation of a new student database system
2. Hire, train and supervise counseling staff and assist staff in maintaining a high level of customer service.
3. Counsel students and their families regarding application for a variety of financial aid programs over the telephone and in person.
4. Responsible for processing all aspects of Financial Aid for graduate students and financial aid counseling for this student population.
5. Remain current with federal and state regulations to support Director in ensuring institutional compliance.
6. Develop reports as needed to ensure counselors have timely information needed to process aid for their students.
7. Prepare and conduct financial aid presentations for parent and student groups on and off campus (some travel may be necessary).
The ideal candidate will have:
--Bachelor's degree. Masters preferred.
--Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to higher education and specifically student aid programs.
--7+ years of experience in financial aid in a higher education setting (private preferred).
--Excellent written, oral, organizational and interpersonal skills needed, as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
--Ability to use sound judgement and work independently in the absence of the Director.
--Strong public relations, customer service, and public speaking skills needed.
--Excellent writing and organizational skills as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
--Good computer skills and knowledge of best practices pertaining to database management.
--High level of comfort using Microsoft Office package and report writing software (like Cognos).
--Accounting knowledge helpful.
--Flexible lifestyle that allows for occasional required travel, evening and weekend work.
--Valid driver's license and vehicle required.
