The Office of Financial Aid at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Counselor who enjoys working in a fast paced environment to advise students and parents on financing their UT education. This position reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid.

Responsibilities include:
1. Provide exceptional customer service while upholding the UT's mission and enrollment goals.
2. Counsel and advise students, applicants and/or family members on financial aid options, costs and financial responsibilities.
3. Package aid, complete verification & loan processing for students in assigned population.
4. Assist in FAFSA completion.
5. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies.
6. Represent the financial aid office and UT at outreach events for current and prospective students (note: some events are off campus and may require overnight or multiple night travel).
7. Use professional judgment to adjust aid eligibility on a case by case basis, as allowed by federal regulations and institutional policies.
8. Coordinate with other institutional offices in the best interest of the student.
9. Other related administrative duties as assigned.



The ideal candidate will have:
1. Bachelor's degree required.
2. Knowledge of Federal and State Aid regulations and programs.
3. Strong public relations, customer service, and public speaking skills.
4. Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills.
5. Ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
5. Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office suite.
6. Accounting knowledge helpful.
7. Some travel required, must have a valid driver's license and vehicle.
8. Availability to work some required evenings, weekends and occasional overnight travel (for events and/or training).

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Summer: Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Some evenings, weekends and occasional overnight travel are required.
