Preferences: The preferred candidate will have recent financial aid experience, excellent customer service skills, and excellent presentation skills. PeopleSoft experience is a plus.

Job Description: Responsible for the dissemination of information for Student Financial Assistance with primary emphasis on phone counseling.

This position/classification may be moved at management’s discretion within the SDES division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Development and Enrollment Services or his/her designee.

Advises and counsels students and parents regarding the financial aid process. Analyzes and evaluates students' financial needs. Advises on availability and sources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, Campus-based aid, Stafford loan, scholarships, and other programs.
Interprets to students the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs. Counseling occurs by telephone, through personal interviews, and email communications.

Participates in outreach activities and presentation of financial aid information to groups of students, parents, high school counselors, and/or the general public in workshop or training sessions.

Attends professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to assure adequate professional development and keep abreast of current rules and regulations.

Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.

Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience.
