POSITION SUMMARY:

The Financial Aid Advisor works with prospective and current students and their family to assist them in the
application process for financial aid programs. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to performing a
variety of duties associated with the awarding, disbursing, and returning of federal, state, and other financial aid
assistance programs. The Financial Aid Advisor reports to the Director of Financial Aid and has accountability to the
Campus President/Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Assist students and parents to apply for Federal Student Aid and private funding for their program.
 Provide information to students and parents regarding financial aid program requirements and
application procedures. Provides information on the rights and responsibilities.
 Review financial aid application information, forms and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
 Review resulting ISIR and ensure accuracy of award data in Campus Nexus and Campus Ivy Core systems.
 Complete verification process, where necessary, of information reported on student ISIR to determinate
eligibility.
 Maintain accurate reporting as needed.
 Provide entrance and exit counseling to prospective and current students.
 Provide accurate response or guidance on questions, inquires or request for information from students or
parents.
 Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate files and paperwork.
 Maintain a close working relationship with Admissions, Registrar, and other campus personnel.
 Maintain professional working relationship with vendors and partners.
 Remain current on all applicable laws and regulations; ensure compliance in all areas.
 Participate in all financial aid training, meetings and events as assigned.
 Performs all other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/COMPETENTENCIES/QUALIFIATIONS:
 Knowledge of Federal Student Aid programs and guidelines.
 Knowledge of Veteran Benefit program preferred.
 Must possess excellent customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
 Must be a team player, possess a strong work ethic and be able to coordinate multiple tasks while
meeting required deadlines.
 Must be capable of working independently, as well as with others in a team environment.
 Proficient with basic office equipment, computers and computer applications including Microsoft Office
Suite.
 Must possess strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
 Able to multitask, prioritize, show extreme resourcefulness and problem‐solving skills.
 Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, staff,
faculty, and the public.
 Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
 Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 Ability to manage sensitive, confidential issues.
 Demonstrated Computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications:
Word, Excel, and Outlook and internet.
 Not in default on any student loans, has ability to obtain Federal Student Aid token
 Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays, evenings and weekends
 Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 High School diploma or equivalent is required.
 Associate degree preferred
 A minimum of one year of Financial Aid experience is preferred
 Working knowledge of Campus Nexus and/or Campus Ivy Core systems preferred
