ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Office of Financial Aid is responsible for coordinating and administering all student financial assistance awarded to USF students, in compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations and guidelines. The office is the main point of contact for all financial aid program information for current and prospective students and parents. The office is responsible for: coordinating and managing the awarding and disbursement of over $480 million in financial aid funds on an annual basis; interpreting changes to federal, state and institutional regulations and translating the effect/impact to students and parents in a manner they can understand, particularly first generation students; providing an array of financial aid support options for students and their families; and providing oversight to monitor the entire process to ensure institutional compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to supervise the administration of federal grant and loan programs in order to comply with federal regulations; manage financial aid awards for student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, federal, and institutional regulations; and to establish student Cost of Attendance Budgets. This also includes the return of Title IV funds process, military housing, and enrollment processing for degree seeking students who are also pursing graduate certificates.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to access the US Department of Education federal systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise Federal Grants Team Manager to ensure Federal Pell and TEACH Grants are awarded and disbursed in compliance with federal regulations. Reconcile Pell Grants, TEACH Grants, Direct Loans, and private loans accounts as required to meet regulatory requirements and deadlines.

Create student Cost of Attendance budgets in compliance with federal regulations. See that budget groups and amounts are accurate in Banner when changes are necessary. Coordinate the development of student budgets with departments that have specialty programs requiring unique student budgets due to academic program requirements.

Coordinate with the Athletics Compliance Office and University Controller's Office to manage the awarding, disbursing, and refunding financial aid funds to student-athletes in accordance with NCAA requirements. Conduct applicable staff training and maintain standards and procedures for this function.

Supervise the Return of Title IV processes to assure federal compliance and accurate processing within the proscribed deadlines. Perform required staff training. Responsible for the DENR and military housing processes, BISK Awarding & Disbursement, including maintenance of standards and procedures and staff training.

Supervise federal work study student(s). Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience, including two years of supervisory experience.

PREFERRED:

Three years of financial aid experience (gained within the last three years) working in a university/college Financial Aid Office. Two-year supervisory experience.
