OVERVIEW:
The role of the Director of Financial Aid is to ensure the appropriate and accurate processing of student financial aid packages, including Title IV, VA benefits, Bright Futures, and scholarship awards. Aviator College is an accredited degree-granting aviation program. The Fort Pierce, Florida, campus conducts flight training certificate and degree programs, and the Kissimmee, Florida, campus the aviation maintenance technician certificate program. Both campuses are approved for DOE and VA funds. The financial department packages an average of 30 students each year.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• At least 2 years of financial aid supervisory experience, including importing and packaging, writing financial aid policies and procedures, federal and state reporting, and processing R2T4s, SAP, and verifications.
• Experience with U.S. Veterans Administration (V.A.) education programs, including GI Bill benefits, Veteran Readiness and Employment, Dependents Educational Assistance, and tuition assistance programs for active military and National Guard/Reserve
• Experience using Federal Aid sites such as COD, SAIG, etc.
• Proven ability to deal effectively, cooperatively, and tactfully with a diverse faculty, staff, administrator, and student population.
• Personal and professional integrity communicates a sense of mission, leadership, and ability to self-start.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree
• V.A. Certifying Official
• IPEDS Keyholder
• Experience with aviation/flight training preferred.

The Director of Financial Aid oversees all student financial aid packages and awards for accuracy to ensure students are properly funded, packaged, and prepared to start each semester. The Director of Financial Aid reports to the college Vice President. The position works with the business office to ensure accurate and timely posting of funds, and with the academic affairs department to ensure processes and policies are compliant with current laws, regulations, and financing options.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office located at the Fort Pierce, Florida campus with oversight of the Kissimmee Campus remotely.
• Provide direction and leadership in the implementation of all policies, procedures, programs, and services of the Financial Aid Department to ensure timely and high-quality service to all students.
• Collection of all required documentation and compliance with all document handling, retention, and disposal policies, including a proper filing process.
• Review, document, and approve students with unusual circumstances such as, but not limited to: Dependency Override, Professional Judgment, Plus Override, and Unusual Enrollment
• Supervise and collaborate in the determination of student eligibility to receive the various financial aid funds to which they are entitled, verify, process, and grant these in accordance with the need analysis and current state and federal regulations.
• Track student starts, account balances, drops/withdrawals/dismissals for all repackaging and refund processing.
• Provide training and oversight to branch campus staff and student processing.
• Monitor potential defaults and follow up on potential and actual defaults.
• Track Sally Mae, government/private scholarship, grant, and private loan postings.
• Assist students in understanding their financial obligations through loan counseling and exit interviews. Ensure any outstanding balances are cleared.
• Other duties as assigned or identified.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting: sitting, working on a computer, using a telephone, communicating with coworkers, and getting to and from appropriate campuses.
