Statement of Candidacy

As the FASFAA Vice President of Training: my goal is to promote FASFAA trainings for workshops, conferences, and webinars with interesting new topics and credential trainings. I will work efficiently and effectively with the board members with planning out the calendar events. I believe it important to provide the association with trainings to develop the understanding of federal regulations and many other enriching topics.

Biographical Statement

Karissa Lawson has over 10 years of is a Financial Aid experience. She received her Masters in Nonprofit Management Degree from University of Central Florida. Ms. Lawson is currently the webinar chair for the FASFAA association, participant in the Diversity Leadership Program for the SASFAA association, and a top credentials earner for the NASFAA association. She loves working with students/parents and helping them with their financial aid needs. She believes that it’s her job as a financial aid administrator to assist the student population with their financial aid questions and concerns. Even with working in the financial aid office for 11 years, she is always willing to learn something new, given the constant changes in financial aid policy and procedures.
